Nostalgic Street Scene Fine Art Print. Based on the artist's childhood memories of the 1950s and 1960s. Featured in E. Anthony Orme's article on his childhood memories of 50s and 60s Manchester titled: 'Tricks , Treats And Cobbled Streets' - Lancashire & Northwest magazine -December Edition https://www.lancmag.com

" This is a painting which I did in order to show how we used to beg, steal or borrow any item which we could find, in order to make the game work. The scene shows the children using a dustbin as wickets. They could have equally used a chalked set of wickets drawn on the wall-but you had to have some chalk! "

" For this article I have painted a rare snow scene, entitled ‘The Snow Fight’. Please bear in mind, that the slum clearance of the 1950’s/60’s, created flattened areas which we called ‘crofts’, where the houses used to be. These whole swatches of grimy, grey wastelands were in time turned in to a dumping ground, for any old house-hold furniture and burnt-out car shells etc. "

" This is a scene which shows a typical back alley, where we used to play. The words ‘keep out’ actually meant ‘come in’ to us kids. "

    £234.00

Golden Fields, Hand Signed and Numbered Limited Edition Giclee Print by E. Anthony Orme

    Edition size: 850

    Print Size: 42cm W x 42cm H

" I painted this scene whilst I was working in Provencal. It was a bright sunny morning and the shifting light was an important factor in the way in which I painted this piece. To finish this painting in one sitting, I decided to employ a more impressionistic approach. The square format allowed me to balance the various component parts of the landscape, i.e. the fields are twice as big as the sky with the farm buildings pinning the skyline in place, so giving more room for work in the foreground. The tree sweeps up from the left hand base line and continues up through the background, through the sky and out of the painting itself. The title ‘Golden Fields’ explains the lovely warm yellow ochre & red fields which attacked my senses on that beautiful day. I hope that by gazing into my painting you will feel some of the pleasure which I experienced at that time."
