" The days when a milkman used to deliver bottles of milk to households in the row after row of terraced houses are long since gone. The “Milko” used to drive a battery powered electric vehicle known as a ‘Float’. It was very smooth and quiet, which was somewhat helpful in the early hours. Oddly, there are whole graveyards of floats to be found in the U.K. today. The milkman in this painting has just parked his float and is making a delivery - but who is the mysterious figure at the top of the steps? "
