“ Evening In Venice ” shows a couple on The Grand Canal who have perhaps just rendezvoused after a day in the office. The warm evening light lures us in to this unfolding story. The gondolas are put to bed for the evening and apart from our couple in the foreground, the whole scene is void of people. I like to think that the various points mentioned above help to bring about a settled and peaceful ambience to this painting. This painting can be paired up with painting titled " Venetian Stroll "

Venice & Italy Collection - The magic of Venice speaks for itself and I can only add my penny’s worth to its fabulous historical value. My intellect is obviously an artistic one and I want to say straight away that Venice is a gift - a gift that which is unequalled in the world of art. Not only is it a ‘Floating city’, its moods are ever changing.

Many mornings have I arisen to pack my breakfast and easel to paint the early morning mist which permeates the backwaters of this strange city. Because this misty backdrop holds a particular fascination to artists and non-participating artists alike, it has, in my experience been of great interest as a monochromatic view of Venetian life away from the hustle and bustle of main stream tourist ‘hot spots’.

The crumbling buildings which drop down below the canal water-lines rise up with delaying fascination to show their red brick walls where cement rendering has failed and fallen into the canals with washing lines and sheets blowing in the wind. Again a gift.
