Ashness Bridge, Keswick, Lake District, Open Edition Print by E Anthony Orme
UK Collection - I have been fortunate enough in my lifetime to have been able to travel the world in pursuit of my art, but back at home in dear old blighty is where my heart is. I have painted from the highlands of Scotland to Lands End, South of England. I am Manchester born and bred, but I love and enjoy the whole of Britain.
The Scottish highlands can be strange but wonderful at different times of the year both at winter and mid-summer. It is a good idea to keep a compass with you when travelling the Highlands off road. Some of the most beautiful scenes can only be accessed on foot and it is all too easy to get lost in what is considered to be one of the last wildernesses on Earth.
Some years ago I spent some time in Devon where I worked on a series of paintings which included countryside and coastal images. Plymouth proves to be very interesting place to paint, from the Quayside with its busy fishing boats and harbor cafes to Plymouth Hoe and its striped lighthouse. Apart from the obvious local scenes of interest, I actually sold many female nude paintings in and around Plymouth.
